CORALINA repudia una vez más la caza de tiburones en San Andrés

San Andrés Isla, 01 de Marzo del 2024. La Corporación Ambiental para el Desarrollo Sostenible, CORALINA, a través de una denuncia ciudadana conoció del presunto sacrificio realizado a un tiburón macho en inmediaciones a las playas de Genny Bay en San Andrés.  

Personal de CORALINA al llegar al sitio, halló un ejemplar de tiburón macho de la familia “Carcharinidae del género Carcharhinus” conocidos como tiburones grises, de aproximadamente 2 metros en la jurisdicción del Área Marina Protegida, con heridas en la parte posterior de la especie presuntamente propinadas con cuchillo.

La Corporación Ambiental repudia este hecho en nuestro Archipiélago, ya que los tiburones cuentan con protección especial lograda en el marco de la Acción Popular. Adicionalmente, esta fauna marina se encuentra protegida por la Resolución No 1633 del 24 de septiembre del 2008 del Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario ICA, la cual “prohíbe el ejercicio de la pesca industrial o artesanal dirigida a la captura de tiburón en el Departamento Archipiélago de San Andrés, Providencia y Santa Catalina”.

Además, algunos recursos hidrobiológicos y/o pesqueros, tienen protección adicional, por ejemplo, desde 2008 en el caso de los tiburones, en el marco del cumplimiento de las órdenes impuestas en la sentencia del Tribunal Contencioso Administrativo de San Andrés, Providencia y Santa Catalina por la Acción Popular, ratificado por el Honorable Consejo de Estado para la protección de los tiburones, (EXP. No.88001-23-31-000-2011-00009-00), en el cual las entidades coaccionadas (los entonces, Ministerio de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural, Ministerio de Ambiente, vivienda y Desarrollo Territorial, Instituto Colombiano de Desarrollo Rural -INCODER, CORALINA y el Departamento Archipiélago a través de su Secretaría de Agricultura y Pesca, entre otros), vienen desarrollando trabajos conjuntos para la protección de las especies de tiburones,

Asimismo, la Subdirección de Mares y Costas de la entidad, a través del grupo de Control y Vigilancia se encuentran recopilando las pruebas del caso, con el fin de adoptar las sanciones necesarias y entregar a las autoridades competentes.

Se hace un llamado a la comunidad del sector a denunciar oportunamente cualquier intento de caza de las especies protegidas, utilizando la línea única de emergencia de la Policía Nacional 123 para activar la ruta de atención, igualmente ponemos a disposición nuestro canal de denuncia virtual descargando el aplicativo “Denuncias Coralina”, el cual puede acceder de forma gratuita y rápida  a través del Play Store.

CORALINA once again repudiates shark hunting in San Andrés

San Andres Island, March 01, 2024. The Environmental Corporation for Sustainable Development-CORALINA, through a citizen denounce, learned of the alleged slaughter of a male shark near the beaches of Genny Bay in San Andres.

CORALINA personnel upon arriving at the site, found a male shark of the family "Carcharinidae of the genus Carcharhinus" known as gray sharks, approximately 2 meters in length in the jurisdiction of the Marine Protected Area, with wounds on the back of the species allegedly inflicted with a knife.

The Environmental Corporation repudiates this fact in our Archipelago, since sharks have special protection achieved within the framework of the Popular Action. Additionally, this marine fauna is protected by Resolution No 1633 of September 24, 2008 of the Colombian Agricultural Institute ICA, which "prohibits the exercise of industrial or artisanal fishing aimed at shark capture in the Department Archipelago of San Andres, Providence and Saint Kethleena".

In addition, some hydrobiological and/or fishing resources have additional protection, for example, since 2008 in the case of sharks, within the framework of compliance with the orders imposed in the ruling of the Contentious Administrative Court of San Andres, Providence and Saint Kethleena. by Popular Action, ratified by the Honorable Council of State for the protection of sharks, (EXP. No.88001-23-31-000-2011-00009-00), in which the coerced entities (the then Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Environment, Housing and Territorial Development, Colombian Institute of Rural Development -INCODER, CORALINA and the Archipelago Department through its Secretariat of Agriculture and Fisheries, among others), have been developing joint work for the protection of shark species.

Likewise, the Subdirectorate of Seas and Coasts of the entity, through the group of Control and Surveillance are collecting the evidence of the case, in order to adopt the necessary sanctions and deliver to the competent authorities.

We call on the community of the sector to report promptly any attempt to hunt protected species, using the only emergency line of the National Police 123 to activate the route of attention, we also make available our virtual denounce channel by downloading the application "Denuncias Coralina", which can be accessed for free and quickly through the Play Store.
